How flexible is a Well Rounded Education?
Looking for new ideas on ways to use your federal funds under ESSA? This podcast discussion will focus on one area of flexibility provided in ESSA: Well-Rounded Education (WRE) and the many different areas that are allowable for Title IV funds under WRE. Working in public education, flexibility is necessary since one size does not fit all. Students come from different backgrounds, race, ethnicity, cultural, religious, economic, and many other varying factors that add to the diversity of each school and district context and community. As a result, the academic and instructional needs differ from each school location as well. With ESSA, the federal government recognized the need to provide increased flexibility for schools and districts to develop programs that relate more specifically to the diverse needs of each school.
